Yoo JungWon, the Winner of 4th BJFEZ English Speech Contest!
“For the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone to become the international business and logistics center of Northeast Asia and even the world, I believe the three key areas need to be addressed: investment, government control, and the working business environment.”
The BJFEZ Authority hosted its 4th annual English Speech Contest for three days from September 13th-15th and held prize awards ceremony on September 17th. After the fierce competition, the grand prize went to Yoo Jung-won(23) from Department of English Language and Literature of Pukyong National University, and she had the honor of being given a scholarship valued at 2 million(KRW) from the Macheon Scholarship Fund.
The applicants were rigorously judged based on their level of fluency and delivery among other criteria by panelist judges. The contest was so heated and competitive. The toughest section of the contest included a rapid Q&A section with the judges. Among the 20 college students, Yoo Jung-won was acknowledged to be the most fluent speaker about the topic –“The Development Direction of Busan, Jinhae Free Economic Zones”. She mentioned the world-successful leading Free Economic Zones such as Singapore and Hongkong as the role-model of BJFEZ and stressed that the BJFEZ should benchmark them regarding little governmental red-tape allowing greater freedom to investing companies, excellent tax-break to lure foreign direct investment, and ideal working and optimal living environment for foreign investors.
The annual English Speech Contest is part of the BJFEZA’s on-going strategy to upgrade and broaden the awareness and the brand image of the BJFEZ and at the same time to contribute to the improvement of students’ English abilities.
