The Department of English Language and Literature at Pukyong National University at in Busan invites seeks to fill a full time faculty (tenure-track) position in the field of British and American Literature. Responsibilities include instruction, advising, curriculum development, and participation in department committees. Candidates must be able to teach in the following core areas: British/American Literature and Comparative literature.
Each applicant must have a Ph.D. in English Literature, or a related field from an accredited institution. S/he must hold a foreign nationality with a native command of English. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to both high-quality research and excellent teaching. Preferred candidates are those who have published in journals covered by the AHCI and have teaching experience at the university level.

Pukyong National University was formed in 1996 from the merger of two national universities with long histories, the National Fisheries University of Busan, which was established in 1941, and the Busan National University of Technology, which was established in 1924 (http://www.pknu.ac.kr/usrEngIndex.do) The Department of English Language and Literature at Pukyong was established to offer a high quality level of teaching and learning. It seeks to offer programs that reflect the pedagogical needs and intellectual interests of its students. The job rank (e.g. Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) will be determined by the applicant’s teaching and research experience. Advancement will be based on the personnel regulations of Pukyong National University. Advancement to Full-Professor status requires an additional review to determine eligibility for employment to retirement age. Professors are expected to teach at least 9 credits a semester.
As a national university, our salary is estimated according to the government scale for academic officials and based on twelve months. Salary/allowances will be determined according to job rank and achievement bonuses. Approximate amounts for new tenure-track faculty start from US$40, 000.
